It's quite interesting hearing the term Mobile Marketing these days. It seems like every company states they are mobile marketers and every solution out there is for mobile marketing. How can you tell what is what?
Well, let's start this off with what mobile marketing isn't. Mobile marketing is not a company placing a post on Facebook or twitter. Although each of these huge networks are dominated by mobile devices, placing just posts or ads without capturing a mobile device is just marketing. Some call it inbound marketing. Others call it digital marketing. However, the major difference with mobile marketing and every other type of marketing out there, is that mobile marketing is the art of capturing a mobile device number through an opt in process, and then sending marketing messages directly to the mobile device.
As we have stated for over twelve years now, yes there were smartphones back then, without a big list of mobile device numbers, how can a business communicate back to their customers and prospects to drive new business, new foot traffic, new web visits and more?
A true mobile marketing system is associated with a short code and a keyword. These are the two primary components of any true mobile marketing campaign. Why use a short code for your mobile marketing messaging? Well, its quite simple,. Because providers that offer short codes, Like Baytech Mobil, PAY the networks to guarantee your message is read. any other type of sending text messages across to mobile phones do not have a guarantee.
Why would you want to spend the time, and money to build a list that has less read throughput than email des? Trues shortcode messaging delivers up to a 95% delivery rate ( if a phone is disconnected for any reason it obviously cannot receive messages)
The other reason to choose a true short code provider, Like Baytech Mobile, is speed of message. When you press send through our software platform, your message is delivered with 1-3 minutes maximum. Its lightening fast.
I have seen so many companies be amazed when we help them to build a good list of prospects and customers, and then when we send a message out, a majority of time someone calls or walks in the location within a few minutes. Mobile marketing is super powerful yet many businesses have yet to employ it.
There seems to be a new message tolerance now with text messages. in fact many consumers prefer text over calls or emails because they know they will get it;. Does this seem smart to you? Consumers WANT text messages because they know they will see it.
So, if you are looking for a super powerful way to connect and re-connect with your prospects and customers, why not check out Baytech mobile. We have been delivering text messages to hundreds of thousands of phones every year for twelve years and counting. We are the leaders in mobile marketing and will save you time and aggravation implementing this simple and powerful marketing tool!!
See you on your phones!!
Consumers these days are attracted to promotional offers. This is why a lot of businesses have strategized their marketing campaign in such a way that will give them more leverage to their consumers by means of offering coupons. If you have a business of your own, whether big or small, you may want to consider this too.
Perhaps you may ask, “Why use mobile coupons in your business?” Using this strategy can give you a wider scope of the market, maintain your existing clients and even attract new ones. The good thing about mobile coupons is that you don’t have to pay a huge sum on printing costs. It is also an efficient way to directly communicate with your target consumers in real-time.
Why Mobile Marketing Text Coupons?
Mobile coupons works pretty much the same as any ordinary coupon. The main purpose of this is to serve as a voucher that would certify a discount or promotional offer. It is a convenient way to send a text message containing this special offer into the customer’s mobile device. This also gives the convenience to your customer by not requiring them to print out the coupon or search for it through another media.
Why use mobile coupons in your business? Because text messaging is sent and received real-time, this may also mean having a prompt and instant response from your target customers. Some studies show that more consumers respond to text messages rather than emails or other means of communication. The likelihood of retaining pertinent information is also increased compared to emails and direct mail channels.
It is also easy to track mobile coupons. Mobile coupons are easily updated through an efficient system unlike print media. Several tracking options are available for mobile coupons including when a coupon is often requested by consumers.
Cost is also a great factor to consider when thinking about the advantages of mobile coupons for business and promotional needs. You eliminate the costs involved in printing a coupon or a voucher. Distribution costs when sending coupons and mailing them to the consumers is also reduced. Sending electronic message such as SMS is definitely cheaper than sending an actual coupon. The best part is that you are running a proven effective campaign while still decreasing your expenses.
Why use mobile coupons in your business? Simple. It is an effective way to create long lasting impression on your brand and on your products. It is also a great way to reward customers for their valued support as well as a cost-effective way to keep sales coming in.

How do you know if mobile marketing is for you? Are you confused by terms such as SMS and an app? What's the difference anyway? What will it cost to get involved?
These are all fantastic questions and the questions many small businesses are asking themselves when it comes to mobile marketing. Just like any marketing endeavor, it's important to be educated so that you can make the right decision for you and your business.
What is mobile marketing?
As it pertains to this article, mobile marketing is marketing on or with a mobile device.
I recently had an opportunity to sit down with an expert mobile marketer. In my discussions with him, I had you in mind and asked him the questions that I think most businesses are curious about when it comes to mobile marketing.
We hear a lot about SMS and Apps. What do you suggest for the small- to medium-sized business?
It's important to keep your goal in mind, which is to provide your consumers information that is easy to find. An application will require a smartphone. Using SMS will connect directly to most mobile phones and can be used as a great connection tool. It boils down to selecting an application or optimizing for your consumers. Not all consumers have smartphones, but the majority can receive SMS. You want to select the option that is available, discoverable and presentable to your specific target market. SMS doesn't limit the type of phone consumers have; this is important to remember.
Over the next few years, you will see trend that mobile marketing effectiveness will have a lot to do with mobile browser capability and less about apps. Mobile web browser capability is important, and it's where we will see the growth. Invest in something that is more open — don't limit who can see or receive your information.
When most businesses think about mobile marketing, they think it's expensive. How much should a company expect to pay for mobile marketing?
There are mobile marketing tools that can fit every budget, and Baytech Mobile provides one solution. They can be cost effective.
There are requirements that a company will need in order to participate in mobile marketing. They will need a shortcode and a keyword. Now, companies can buy their own shortcode, but that will cost them between $1000 to $1500 per month. Due to the cost, I suggest that they look for a shared shortcode. Small businesses will find this is the most cost effective, and it won't diminish the results.
What are some common mistakes you see when it comes to mobile marketing?
The biggest mistake that I see is when a company thinks that mobile marketing is going to be the one thing that will cure all of their problems. Mobile marketing has to be incorporated and integrated into your marketing mix in order for it to be successful. It's about engagement and reach, and without that integration, you lose the power the mobile marketing holds.
Mobile marketing is the ultimate permission-based form of marketing — so make sure that your offers are unique. Don't use mobile marketing to repeat offers that you are broadcasting elsewhere — make the offer unique and something that they won't find elsewhere. Offerings must be unique to be valuable.
What about regulations? What do businesses looking into mobile marketing need to know, and where can they find information?
It's important that companies become aware of regulations put out by the MMA (Mobile Marketing Association). The MMA is the guardian angel or watchdog, if you will, of mobile marketing. They have close ties with carriers and, because of that, they have developed guidelines for best practices. If there is mobile marketing abuse, it will be stopped.
There is so much information here, and even I am surprised by how inexpensive it is to get started. If a company is interested, where do they start?
If a company is interested, I'd suggest that they contact a mobile marketing agency that they can work with or use a self-service online tool such as Baytech Mobile to get started. Online tools are an excellent start for small businesses, and you can find agencies that are willing to work with small- to medium-sized businesses, and they will help in creating a strategy and a plan so that a company reaps the most benefit when it comes to mobile marketing.
A mobile marketing agency such as Baytech, can help with educating companies on the commitment and providing them with education that can guide them through the learning curve so that they can do mobile marketing on their own.
I cannot stress enough that mobile marketing success is really about consistency and commitment. Companies need to think about what they are offering and continuously work to refine and measure the results of those offerings. Companies that do this will find success in mobile marketing. There is so much creativity that can go into such a little device like a mobile phone. Mobile marketing forces us to understand our customers better. Like most marketing vehicles, learning what works and what doesn't is about trial and error.

Did you know that customer loyalty programs operate based on the well-founded notion that it is less expensive to keep a current customer than to find a new one. Providing rewards in the form of points, cash back, and discounts on merchandise can help achieve that goal. The use of loyalty programs — long the purview of retail chains, credit card companies, and airlines — is now well within the reach of small businesses.
Customer Loyalty Program Benefits
There are several reasons why small businesses should consider implementing a loyalty rewards program.
With these benefits in mind, perhaps it’s time for you to consider putting a loyalty program into action. Years ago, Groupon-type deals were popular with small businesses — but there was a downside.
Often, deals were so deeply discounted that they cost the merchant money rather than the other way around. It soon became apparent that shoppers were more loyal to the deal than to the business. Without a retention plan in place, few saw repeat customers. Just because you have a loyalty program does not mean it will succeed. You need to keep it at the forefront of your customers’ minds. And Baytech can recommend several easy and fast ways to do so.
Creating mobile loyalty programs that use apps and text messaging is a way to take advantage of the steady rise in mobile device use and to connect with the ever elusive "younger generation".

Businesses need to start adapting their marketing efforts to keep up with the advances in technology. Mobile device adoption rates are increasing at an incredible rate, surpassing 80% in 2016 alone. Even more importantly, average smartphone conversion rates are up 64% compared to the average desktop conversion rates for e-commerce alone. In today's digital and interconnected world, the importance of tailoring marketing efforts so they are mobile-friendly cannot be overstated.
The following are five considerations on the importance of mobile marketing that marketers need to evaluate as part of their digital strategy:
1. Time Spent On Mobile Devices Is Increasing
In 2016, Americans spent an average of 10 hours per day on mobile devices. Nearly a third of this time was spent on smartphones or tablets, according to eMarketer. This means that the average American spends over 500 hours per year navigating websites or talking on their mobile device, providing ample opportunity to capture their attention and get them discussing your business on a device they use so frequently as part of their daily lives. Advertising trends are also responding to this development: It is estimated that by 2019, nearly 72% of marketing dollars will be spent developing apps and advertisements for mobile platforms.
2. Mobile Commerce And Mobile Marketing Go Hand-In-Hand
Consumers are using their mobile devices to purchase items from Amazon, eBay and other e-commerce platforms. Businesses as large as Walmart and as small as mom and pop shops are recognizing this, and developing user-friendly portals and websites to facilitate sales. In fact, it is projected that by the end of 2017, 60% of e-commerce visits will start on a mobile device. Businesses that develop integrated mobile campaigns that guide consumers from product introduction to sale will see a considerable boost in revenue.
3. Shoppers Purchase In Stores
Mobile technology gives consumers the opportunity to shop and compare while they walk down the store aisle. Businesses that have active mobile marketing campaigns can take advantage of this: Search engine optimization and an easily navigable website can give your business an edge when the consumer is ready to purchase. Moreover, search engines are altering their algorithms to give higher preference to mobile-friendly sites. This creates the need for businesses to improve their web presence and tie new forms of automated marketing into their operations.
4. Short Message Service (SMS) Open Rates Are Higher Than Email
SMS has an open rate of 98%, and up to 90% of people who open the message will read it within three seconds. This is far higher than email marketing or other digital channels. Tailoring your SMS messages so they appeal to prospective customers will give them a reason to further research your products or services, and they will likely start on the device in which they just received the message.
Forbes Agency Council is an invitation-only community for executives in successful public relations, media strategy, creative and advertising agencies. Do I qualify?
5. Mobile Marketing Reaches A Broader Market
Smartphones and tablets are becoming increasingly popular tools for communication across all demographics. They are smaller, lighter, cheaper and more portable than computers and laptops. Manufacturers are also responding to consumer demand and developing faster, more powerful and less expensive mobile devices. These developments mean that marketers have a golden opportunity to put their marketing messages into the hands of their consumers, and mobile allows marketers and advertisers to reach a much wider audience by doing so.
Digital marketing is continually evolving, and mobile marketing plays a key role in that strategy. The shift toward mobile devices is a trend that will continue to progress, and businesses need to ensure they have a cohesive mobile marketing plan to connect with those digital consumers.
